Built in 1963 and originally named the "Carlton Towers", advertised to be an "Uitra Modern Luxary Apartments catering to your own individual ides of comfort, privacy and the convenience of downtown living." The 183 unit apartment building in a Y-shaped configuration was architected by Howard L. Dutkin, A.I.A. and constructed by Frank J. Rooney, Inc. Back in the day the 10 story building was the tallest building downtown making it iconic. Through the years the building hosted a coffee shop, restaurant and beauty parlor, and in current day a real estate agency. In 2005 the building was converted to condominiums and renamed, "The Beacon on Third".
The mid-rise condominium building is located in the heart of Downtown St. Petersburg. The Beacon on 3rd offers a range of 1 and 2 bedroom residences, 24 hour fitness center, rooftop deck with endless city and water views, large pool with cabanas and grilling area, night and weekend security, and designated parking spaces. The Beacon on Third is located just steps to the University of South Florida St. Petersburg Campus, the Shops at Sundial, shopping, restaurants, and nightlife.
Laundry facilities are available on each residential floor through a partnership with CSC.
